In celebration of the birth of 5 black goats,
I have made a recipe called the Black Sheep.
Now you wonder why it isn't called the Black Goat?
Well it is named for the woman who owns these black goats, my favorite black sheep, Susie.
We go way back and I know she doesn't mind me calling her a black sheep, she was always marching to her own tune!
So here goes!
What you need: Vodka (Grey Goose if you are Susie), 6-8 blackberries, 1/4 lime, gingered sugar*, Canton Ginger Liqueur, pomegranate juice, and soda water.
Before we begin, the asterik*. Several days ago,I cut into small pieces, a thumb size piece of ginger and placed it in a container with about a cup of sugar. The sugar takes the flavor of ginger.
Muddle together the blackberries, a teaspoon of the gingered sugar, and the lime .
Add in 2 oz. of Vodka, 1/4 oz. of Canton Ginger Liqueur. If at this point you are salivating and just cannot wait or are a black sheep and cannot do things the way others do, take the slurry, throw it over some rocks and enjoy!
For the rest of us, place it all into a shaker, add 1.5 oz. pomegranate juice, fill with crushed ice
and shake the mixture.
Pour into a tall glass.
Top off with a splash of soda water.
