Shopping Madness meet My Old Flame

Seems to me a much better alternative to all the shopping delirium December can produce, is to stay home and mix up some potions for your cronies and consorts. A relaxing and engaging way to mitigate the madness.
The old fashioned, homemade gift, takes on another dimension when you customize libations.
Now I LOVE a good cup of coffee.
(Stove Top expresso pot with Havanero Expresso from Fairway, but that's just me!)
I decided to make a batch of Coffee Liqueur for my one of my Holiday offerings this year.
Start with the best coffee, brewed in whatever fashion you prefer, but double strength.

The basic recipe I used was
1 1/2 cup of strongly brewed coffee
1 1/2 cups of Vodka,or Rum,or Tequila,...you get the picture
1/2 to 3/4 cup of Beet Sugar Syrup (or sugar, or brown sugar, or agave, or honey, or molasses)
(The recipe is simple but can be complicated to your heart's content.
One could add orange peel, or vanilla, maybe star anise).
After having let the coffee cool down, I poured all the ingredients into a bottle.
No need to really macerate or infuse.
Just serve and sip.
While you are here, do look through the archives for other libations to make. I promise you, it really beats the crowds at Macy's.

Wonderful, wakes you up and puts you down with warmth, color and strength, what more might a drink do?
