Disfrute, hoy es el Dia de la Margarita!
Well I have chosen for the occasion a Margarita that can also be used for your Oscar celebrations
(if you indulge in such things)
A Sparkling Hibiscus Margarita
1 ounce (or more!) ounces of Tequila Espolon for me)
1/2 ounce of Hibiscus Syrup *
1 ounce of Blood Orange Liqueur (Solerno)
1 ounce of fresh lime juice (approx. 1 lime, strained please)
a splash of Prosecco
Hibiscus Salt for garnish **
Mix the first 4 ingredients in a shaker with ice.
Moisten the rim of your Cocktail glass with the lime shell and coat it with the Hibiscus salt.
A nice large ice cube please and
gingerly pour in the shaken Cocktail.
Now top up with a good splash of Prosecco
* hibiscus syrup is made by heating up a cup of organic sugar over a medium flame, stirred with 1 cup of water and about 1/2 cup of Flor de Jamaica (hibicus flowers found in Spanish Markets)
Once the sugar has dissolved, lower the temp and simmer for 5 - 10 minutes. Remove from heat and let steep and cool off. May be kept in the fridge. You can choose to leave the flowers in or not.
** Hibiscus Salt is made by crushing about 1/4 of the Flor de Jamaica (I do it in my electric grinder) then mixing it with a teaspoon or two of coarse salt. Tart and salty YUM!
